This little guy from Warlord was a lovely kit to assemble and paint. There was some slight flash to clean up, and the assembly diagram was for an earlier version of the model, but it's got a minimal number of parts. I got the decals from a 1/48 Pz IV I built and painted (but evidently never finished) some years back. I undercoated in Halford's yellow primer, then applied grey atop that. The resin is grey and I felt sure I'd miss something otherwise! This is probably partly responsible for the tawny hue of the finished model. The fact that my light just seems to have gone a bit yellow is doubtless another factor!
At the club we're working on Bolt Action in a distracted fashion. WWII isn't really my period, but a game is a game. :)
Rich and I have acquired a few different bits and bobs which should see us able to field a few armies. In-game pictures will hopefully follow at some point. We have for the Germans a pair of Panthers, so I wanted to get something a bit more limited, that wouldn't take up half the points cost of a thousand point force all on its own! Plus, I like anything I can slip into my ever-planned, never-realised VBCW plans. ;)

Great War Boardgame
Tanks
I picked up both the main expansion for the Great War boardgame, which features male and female MkIVs and German A7Vs, as well as German artillery, and the Whippet expansion, which I'll go ahead and assume needs no explanation.Artillery
In addition to the German artillery (105mm guns), I also picked up some British opposition (18pdrs). I'm easily amused, so having this gun in 28mm, 15mm and 6mm makes me smile. :D They come in the usual brown plastic for the Brits, and grey for the Germans. They have been undercoated in the following pictures.
Flames of War
Obviously, the primary reason for purchasing these models is to use them with the boardgame. However, my mate fancies getting into Flames of War's WWI expansion, and so I'll be working out how to use these guys for both systems before basing anybody. Obviously, in time I shall expand my collection beyond just the plastics so I have a broader range of poses - and some officers, too! Hopefully, in a few months, we'll get a game in.

Painting up a Jagdpanther in 1/48
Some years ago I bought a few things in the above scale: a Pz III, a Sherman, a section of British and German infantry, and the above-mentioned tank hunter. I had some notion of doing a very small scale skirmish game, but nothing ever came of that. I got as far as painting the Sherman and undercoating the other tanks. The other week I was motivated to dig out the German vehicles and have a go at finishing them. Again, I have a vague idea about using them in some skirmish games, though I confess the Jagdpanther will be ridiculous overkill in comparison to anything else I have lying about. More thought is needed. Anyway, I didn't have any particular historical vehicles in mind as inspirations, just the general red-green-yellow camouflage scheme. The flash has been a bit unkind in highlighting the wear and tear - which is less obvious in the flesh. Here she is with a 28mm GWM WWI German officer for scale. There's plenty left to do, but I hope posting this will spur me on to get her done.
